7/31/16: Buffalo, NY- Sportsmen’s Tavern. We felt so much love at this Sunday afternoon show at the Sportsmen’s. This incredible venue has walls covered in famous people who have played here and reminded me a lot of some of the Nashville bars on Broadway. We were so excited to see our friends AJ and Kristi, who had helped us out when we played just outside of Buffalo this past February with a place to stay, food, and some great company. It meant so much getting to see them again and it was great catching up. Our show was a lot of fun and we were so happy to see a handful of other familiar faces, including Joyce, who had seen us play at a retirement community in Buffalo at the beginning of the year. She baked us what had to be some of the best cookies we ever had. After the show we got to spend the night just outside of Buffalo with our friends the Manguses. We had an absolute blast with these guys, from a massive bonfire and fireworks to jamming songs and some of the best cooking I have had in my life, and no I’m not just saying that. I’ll never forget the smorgasbord of food we woke up to for breakfast the following morning, including a lychee plum dish with a melted creamsicle and fresh mint, you’re the best, Michelle! This final day in NY was an excellent way to finish out our week of shows here in New York. All of the love and kindness we have experienced here has really made NY feel like home, thanks guys.
