Truth, Son

Well I know I know just where you've been

Down by them rusted cars on a road of sin

Where the dark roses tend to grow and you know you don't belong

some inner demon has been chasing you for far too long.

What about forbidden toxins just drag you on in.

Are you not comfortable where you usual roam

I see you’re driftin you're driftin you drift far from home.

You whisper you whisper you whisper for so long. All along I saw that darkness escaping the dawn. you stood so close and I'm a ghost since you've been gone.

I see I see where the dark river ends

When your feet start dragging and the hillside spins

Your mind is changing I know where you went wrong.

When you started dancing and singing drinking songs.

You've been gone for so long it's time to head on home.

You're not with me cause you're with him and you’re with him until you're gone.

You carry you carry oh hell you carry on

You whisper you whisper you whisper for so long.

All along I saw that darkness escaping the dawn.

You stood so close and I'm a ghost since you've been gone.

Well I saw six months of growing trees walking those back roads

I sold all of my shoes to a mountain that just plateaued

in the backwoods of Tennessee I need to be where my heart dove into

but you can't go expecting a garden where you plant no food.

Heading back mid westward crossing them state lines

I had a few conflicting thoughts and they may cross at any time.

Surrender to the truth son and you continue to roam

you must remember your roots when pure a long way from home
