This station area right on the water was originally going to be a highway to Atlantic City in the thirties, but when they couldn’t set the bridge with the deep waters they left the spot. For thirty years Rutgers has been studying the marine life hear on the Atlantic to learn about trends of the different fish and seal in the area. The event we are playing tonight will help raise money to provide scholarships for students to speak at international marine conferences and we were so happy to be a part of such a great organization. A weekend like no other, the KC international folk alliance hosts hundreds of musical acts from around the world. We all got to see some incredible musical acts from all over the world like the Armenian jazz fusion group Authentic Light Orchestra from Switzerland, the great Irish duo Socks in the Frying Pan, and the Nashville based group, Barefoot Movement. I went to college with their bass player and really enjoyed their set, especially their bluegrass cover of “Crazy Train.” We also saw a handful of great sets from our friends on the Americana agency which included Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellies, Anna Egge and Carrie Elkin. We feel so lucky to be a part of an agency filled with such talented acts and it was great getting to see some of them for the first time. We headed out to Winnsboro to play a show at a venue that used to be a brothel in the 1900s. We had a great time and I love the energy we got from the people here in Texas. After a fun show we made our way next door where we had a full pizza dinner waiting for us. I ate more wings than I ever have in my life. I will never forget the electric energy that we had on our last song, Truth Son, when the whole audience got up from their chairs and the stomping made the room move. Everyone who helps to put on this concert series does such a stellar job and we feel so lucky to be part of the Red House concert family. After our set we played an acoustic encore with The Accidentals and Nik Carman (pictured above) of Sittin on top of the world. We also got to see our good friend Adam (thanks for the photo) and our friend Diana, who we had played a house show for just a few weeks ago. Diana brought us a bag filled with organic and fresh Ohio based treats, like chips, hummus, and a variety of fresh garlic! After the show we headed over to the motel we were staying at- which was a really quaint lodge on the edge of town. We hung out late and enjoyed the snacks we got from Diana with some friends. The next morning before heading out Austin and I saw a bird trapped in a gazebo next to the lodge. (sold out) I have been counting down the days ever since we found out we would be playing here at the caverns and I couldn’t believe that the day had finally arrived. I was up early to make the drive to Mcminnville from Nashville but after realizing there was no time zone difference, found myself with an extra hour to hike in the woods before we loaded in. The Cumberland Caverns are a beautiful cave system located in the heart of central Tennessee. The venue itself was nestled 333 feet below ground and it was cold and humid down there. To get down we took a trailer shuttle with our gear and I’ll never forget the feeling of entering the head of the cave. We were playing with the incredible band, Flatt Lonesome, and it was great meeting such a great group of people. The show started with us, and our set was a ton of fun. The venue could not have been more stunning, and as we played I found myself exploring the massive room top to bottom. We were so happy to have received a standing ovation and an encore, and with all of our families here, this was an unforgettable day. After the set I went behind the green room area, which was a continuation of the cave, leading into silence and darkness for an 18 mile trail (I didn’t hike the whole 18.) It was such a wild feeling after a show that I had been so anxious for to be exploring in such a peaceful place. I think the whole band had his attention!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/43916222016-09-26T16:48:03-05:002023-12-10T10:55:56-06:009/22/16: St. Charles, IL- Old Town Pub. We were so happy to see such a great turnout of friends, family and new faces, all there to dance and have a good time. We were so happy to play a listening room in our home state and the show was a great time. I loved having burritos, tacos, and enchiladas in the green room! We have been looking forward to this awesome festival for almost a year and were so happy to finally have the weekend upon us. We started out our morning playing a live showcase on the local radio station WBCM (Birthplace of Country Music) and loaded up after that for our first evening set of the festival. Bristol Rhythm and roots is an incredible annual festival that takes place in Bristol, right on the state line of Tennessee and Virginia. We had a crazy show with an excellent crowd and it was so great getting to see the response we had. We were excited about people coming up to us the rest of the night saying that they would be at tomorrow’s set of ours. We got to see some incredible music the rest of the evening, including Anderson East, Darrell Scott, Hayes Carl, and Buddy Guy.

Our Saturday show was a blast as well. Before we left from the festival Collin was going down the elevator at the hotel we were staying at and someone asked him ‘are you in a band?’ He said yes and they asked about the wanderers. Collin asked him if he was playing at the festival and he said, 'Yes, my name is Buddy Guy!’ We were so happy to see John and Lucy, our booking agents at the Americana agency and go out to dinner with them to catch up and hang out. We love having such kind and fun people on our team! We were a little worried about our show that night because we were playing at the same time as the Indigo Girls as well as Keller Williams. We were pleasantly surprised with a packed house for our set and had a ton of fun playing. This festival was a ton of fun and we can’t wait to make our way back to Johnson City, TN in a couple weeks on our way to IBMA!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/43821472016-09-20T12:49:21-05:002017-01-15T18:25:01-06:009/15/16: Decatur, GA- Eddie’s Attic (also Knoxville, TN-...

9/15/16: Decatur, GA- Eddie’s Attic (also Knoxville, TN- The Blue Plate Special.) We were very excited for a jam-packed weekend of music, starting with one of our favorite stops in Knoxville- the Blue Plate Special. This was our second time playing the blue plate and we were happy to be there promoting our new album. It was great seeing our good friend Andre, who we met in upstate NY, stop by to say hi on his lunch break. He had just moved out to Tennessee and it meant a ton to see him there! After our morning show we set off for Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA. Eddie’s is a legendary venue that has had acts like the Indigo Girls and John Mayer. We had a great time playing and it was awesome seeing people come out here at one of our first georgia plays, including a group who had seen us at Shoe fest this year! We felt so much love here in Aimes. After a great breakfast and a visit to a local coffee shop, we made our way to Prairie Moon. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to be playing right at the foot of this gorgeous Iowa vineyard. The Prairie Moon puts on a weekly Sunday afternoon concert series and we were so happy to be a part of it. The sets were fun and it meant the world to us to see a bunch of Iowa friends up front singing nearly every word of our songs! When we first arrived Jojo from Wookiefoot came over and gave us all big hugs and said “Welcome home.” We had a really fun set, and we didn’t let a little rain and mud ruin our time. We had people sloshing around and having a great time with us. After our set we had the whole day to enjoy music. It was amazing getting to see some world class bands like Stick Figure, Nahko& Medicine for the people, and my favorite of the day: Mike Love. If you haven’t checked Mike Love out, do yourself the favor. Mike also sports some of the biggest dreads I have ever seen. I had a lot of fun hanging front row with our friends Ray and Aundrea for the sets. At the end of the night hung out backstage around a fire with a bunch of the other bands. Wookiefoot puts on an amazing and crazy festival and we were so happy to be a part of it. The last time we were supposed to play in Minneapolis was a show at First Ave; the legendary venue that has had just about every band you can imagine including Prince. Sadly, just days before the set we got a call and found out that the roof of the building had collapsed. Our show was cancelled and moved to Clearwater, MN. We had a great time there but were so excited to finally be making it to the twin cities for a show! We played at an awesome venue right off of the water with a gorgeous overlook of the downtown Minneapolis area called Aster Cafe. Aster is a really cool space with brick wall and dim lights. I was so happy to have my cousins and their family from St. Louis come out to the show. We also saw a bunch of friends including Katie from Rock The Farm (Thank you for the pic, Katie!) as well as our close friends Ray and Aundrea, who had surprised us at the show! We were so happy to spend the evening hanging with them knowing that we would be hanging tomorrow as well at Shangri La. I was pretty nervous for this show because on top of my family and friends, I also had a friend who I was in a high school hard rock band with as well as a friend from junior high come out. I really wanted to put on a good show! We had a great time playing and we felt the good vibes during our set. After the show we stayed with my cousin who lives in uptown. We felt so much support and it was awesome seeing so many new faces singing along! The show was a great time and we met some friends, Peter and Sam, who had found the band on Spotify Discover Weekly! They were kind enough to host the band for the evening and we had a lot of fun hanging with them, talking about our travels, and enjoying some good Wisconsin beer! With some incredible acts like Old Salt Union, Chicago Farmer, Keller Williams, Old Shoe, and The Railway Gamblers we knew we were in for a great night. Our set was completely nuts. It was hard to tell how many people were out in the crowd with the darkness but the roar was tremendous. We had so much fun playing and were humbled with the chant of one more song echoing through the crowd at the end of our set. We wanted nothing more than to play another song but unfortunately the stage manager had to keep to a strict schedule. The set was a great time and as always Shoefest was a ball. We had to head out that night to make our way to central Illinois for the Rock the Farm event just outside of Peoria. John and Travis stayed the night at Hoxeyville to see Railroad Earth and said they were incredible. I wish I could have stayed longer at Hoxey and hopefully we will make our way back in years to come! The day had finally come that we had made our way back to Martyrs here in Chicago. It was so good to be playing at home and we were excited to have the incredible bands Stillshine and Idea Garden playing with us. Before our set we sat down with Kristin from “A Beer With The Band,” a great online journal and had an excellent interview. We had a great time hanging with the other bands and even jamming with Dan Andree of Idea Garden before the show. Dan and Aaron brought the rest of the guys from Henhouse Prowlers up for a few songs during their set and it was amazing. I have to say it is a little intimidating having to play after such incredible musicians. We felt a massive amount of love and support at this show and it was so great to get to share our new album with all our Chicago friends and family. The show was a blast and seeing so many people out to support was ridiculous. We ended the night with a brand new acoustic encore, Cecelia by Simon and Garfunkel. This was an electric moment and we couldn’t think of a better way to end the night then getting everyone singing, stomping and clapping. We feel so lucky to have had such an incredible night here in the city. After over a month on the road we have a few days off and Travis can make his way back to Michigan for the week. We can’t wait for our upcoming shows including Greensky Bluegrass’ festival, Hoxeyville, and Rock the Farm, which is just outside of Peoria and helps to support the Easter Seals foundation.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/43318962016-08-18T14:39:09-05:002020-09-08T23:37:30-05:008/11/16: Clifton, IL- The Longbranch. The Longbranch is a great bar and restaurant about 90 minutes outside of Chicago and we were so happy to be playing our first Illinois show in over a month. This was an amazing night, and it was incredible seeing so many great people come out to the show. We were happy to get to see friends who we hadn’t seen since our last Illinois shows earlier this summer. Our first set of music included a massive downpour and soaked everyone. Our instruments stayed dry but we couldn’t use the stage for our second set. There was a barn in the back yard of the Longbranch and we packed everyone in for our second set of music. As the storm carried on we played acoustic music and had the whole barn singing with us. This was an unforgettable night and it made us so happy to be back in Illinois.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/43318972016-08-18T14:24:13-05:002017-01-15T18:25:00-06:008/11/16: Davenport, IA- Redstone Room. It has been nearly two years since we recorded our first Daytrotter, and we were so excited to be back for round two! Their new studio was gorgeous and we had a great time with these single take performances of some of our songs from the album as well as a newer jam we’ve been working on. We had fun with this one and can’t wait to see the finished product. It was incredible to think that just a couple months before this the Avett Brothers recorded a Daytrotter in this very same studio. After the session we walked over to the Redstone room, where we would be playing the following night. We shot a live facebook video and played some songs for people who were getting home from their busy workday. We were invited to stay with our good friends at the Redstone, Kate and Brett. We had so much fun relaxing with them and enjoying the warm weather. We threw a football around (until I threw it over the fence on accident and had to go digging for it in the forest) and Brett grilled steaks, burgers, and veggie patties. We ended the night by listening to vinyl and playing the Sega game NBA jam as well as cards against humanity. It was so much fun getting to spend time with these amazingly generous people and we couldn’t wait for tomorrow’s Redstone Room show!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/43318992016-08-18T14:08:54-05:002022-02-03T09:18:20-06:008/8/16: Chicago, IL- WGN Radio. Tonight was our final show of our month long run of the east coast. We had a wide variety of ups and downs this month, from bus trouble and crazy weather to amazing people and incredible shows and gorgeous travel. I couldn’t think of a better way to conclude this run than our Nashville, Indiana show here at the Red Barn. This show, put on by Key of D productions was in a really cool barn at the center of an RV park. The staff was beyond helpful and we were set up for an excellent night. The RV park also offered camping so people could enjoy the show and walk back to their tents after. We were so happy to see tons of our good friends and this really felt like a wanderers family reunion. Seeing most of the crowd singing along to practically all of our originals and seeing kids dancing in the isles made us all smile. We are so lucky to have such incredible people in our lives and this show was a definite highlight for me. Before leaving Columbus we stopped at Magnolia records to play a lunchtime acoustic set in the store. We were happy to see some friends from the past night’s show come out, and after the performance and a quick lunch at a build your own taco restaurant down the street (I had Thai ginger octopus tacos called ‘the Kraken’) we left for Cincinatti. We had heard a lot from our friend Gene in Virginia about the Ludlow Garage’s history. The venue had been around for nearly half a century and used to be the hangout place for Janis Joplin. The Allman brothers also recorded their live 1970 album here. The venue’s seating reminded me of a movie theater (you can see the stage shot from the picture above during soundcheck.) The sound was incredible and we were happy with a great crowd, especially in such a large venue. We have yet to have a bad show in Ohio on this tour and tonight was no exception. We were so happy to see our good friend Adam who Collin knew from Kaufman bluegrass summer programs that he attended when he was younger. After the show John, Travis and I headed to a friend’s house where we sat on their back porch and enjoyed the beautiful evening over some pizza and good company. GenCon is a wild five day event that brings gamers from around the world together to see the newest and most exciting games. We were playing music for this year’s GenCon pre party which was on a block of downtown Indy. The annual event seems to take the town by storm, and the beer sponsor, Sun King, even makes an annual signature beer for the event. This year’s was called ‘twenty sided rye.’ The show was a lot of fun and it was great to see Collin’s family there. We also saw some good friends including friends Melissa and Jeremy who I could see singing literally every lyric from the new album! You guys are amazing and that was a definite highlight of the tour for me. We had a great time here at GenCon and I wish we could have seen more of the convention, but we are looking forward our Ohio shows coming up tomorrow and the next day, as well as another stop back here in Indiana in a few days! We were thrilled to have a huge crowd out for tonight’s show and I was especially excited to have my Aunt, Uncle, and niece see my play with the band for the first time (They really liked the spoons.) I’ll never forget hearing the roar and chant of 'encore’ at the end of the show, which very well could have been the loudest I had ever heard it be chanted for the band. It meant so much getting to see them again and it was great catching up. Our show was a lot of fun and we were so happy to see a handful of other familiar faces, including Joyce, who had seen us play at a retirement community in Buffalo at the beginning of the year. She baked us what had to be some of the best cookies we ever had. After the show we got to spend the night just outside of Buffalo with our friends the Manguses. While we were on the trail someone had recognized us from one of our January NY shows! After hiking we made our way to The Dock, where we would be playing later that night. Since we had driven in so early we found metered parking for he bus and were up early as the sun came up on this hot summer city day. Travis, Austin and I made our way through Times Square and Central Park. Our show that night was at the Mercury Lounge, an awesome venue in lower east Manhattan with excellent sound, and a great star. We really enjoyed playing rockwood music hall this past January but we definitely appreciated having a large stage. Rockwood didn’t have room on stage for a drum set so I was positioned off stage. We were really happy to have a great turnout. It was so incredible having people tell us they discovered the band on New York radio stations, album reviews, Pandora or YouTube. We were playing a matinee show and it was a great time. Then venue’s old location had historic performances including Bob Dylan! Our set was a lot of fun and it was great seeing a crowd out of friends and lovers of music. Starting to see more and more people singing songs off of our new album is an amazing feeling! After the show we drove a ways out of the Boston area to get to John W’s friend, Sarah’s place. Sarah was at the show and knew John when he lived in the Northwest. We had a great night hanging with her and it was fun to get an evening off. We watched back to the future one and two! Our first New Hampshire show. After a long drive through New Jersey and New York City, we got to New Hampshire’s small town of Nashua. The Riverwalk cafe is one of the coolest coffee shop/ bar/ restaurant/ performance spaces I’ve ever seen. We played with an absolutely incredible band, Golden Oak and we are most definitely new fans. Our set was a great time, and the entirely fiberglass- built stage made for one of the quietest stages I’ve ever played and excellent sound. It was funny to look out the window and see the small park next door packed with about 50 people playing Pokemon Go. After our set we got to stay with the owner/ sound guy of Riverwalk, Ben. This venue was so cool and will definitely be a spot we try to hit up again when we’re back in New Hampshire. Kennett Flash is a really great space to play music, and it was awesome seeing a handful of wanderers fans at the show, even people singing along to Heading North, which has only been out for a couple weeks!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/42892662016-07-21T11:25:06-05:002017-01-15T18:24:59-06:007/18/16: Richmond, VA- Plan 9 Records. Our first record store play! Gene had connected us with Jim Bland, the owner of the awesome record shop in Richmond, and he offered us up an evening show to promote our new album. It was really cool for us to get to play to a crowd of people both from the previous night’s charter house concert as well as the night before’s concert with Dale and Renee Scott. Seeing so many friends and great people coming out to hear the music made us feel at home. We are so lucky to have such a warm group of friends here in Richmond. While the bus was in the shop Gene and Dale were kind enough to let us stay for a few days with them. We didn’t have a show until Thursday and the bus wouldn’t be ready until that morning. Our few day stay with Gene and Dale included family dinners, jamming to all sorts of music, and playing pool (you guys really know how to make us feel at home!) Gene even let us borrow his car to explore Richmond. One of the days Collin, Austin and I met up with our friend Reggie who showed us around town. We went to Belle Isle off of the James river which was a beautiful hike that lead to a big river. None of us had brought swimsuits but we couldn’t resist jumping in on such a hot day, and our air dried on the hike back. On our last night in town we had a big dinner with Gene, Dale, Lou, and Ernie (all four presenters of the house concert we had played Sunday.) We had good food with great company and spent the night playing music on the porch and playing pool and ping pong. It’s nights like these that we won’t forget and we are so lucky to be able to call such kind, generous people our friends, thanks for everything, guys!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/42892672016-07-21T11:11:52-05:002022-05-24T09:43:02-05:007/17/16: Midlothian, VA- Charter House Concert (O’boyle/ Raney...

7/17/16: Midlothian, VA- Charter House Concert (O’boyle/ Raney Concert Series) Sold out! The O’boyle/ Raney concert series is put on by Gene, Dale, Lou and Ernie, and they bring incredible bands from all over the country to play. We were humbled to find out that not only was this concert sold out, but we were the first band in the concert series to ever be asked to play a second show. This second show was one I had been looking forward to for a long time and it was a ton of fun. After a great evening concert we headed back to Gene and Dale’s. Our bus was having a great deal of difficulty the past few days and we had to take it in to change the fuel pump. Gene and Dale graciously offered to put us up at their house for the next few days, and we were excited to get to spend some time with them. We first met Dale and Renee Scott at the O'Boyle house concert series that we played this past November, and we were so happy to have been asked to play their concert series on this eastern tour. The community on Trice’s Lake puts on summer concerts and we were thrilled to be there. The first thing I did after the long hot drive there was jump right into the lake. I went into the house where we were staying and was met with a massive box of snacks for the band as well as 5 beach towel and backpack sets that said ‘play hard’ We instantly were made to feel right at home and knew we were going to have a blast . All of the people around the lake were warm, kind, welcoming, and a great time! We were set up and ready to go for the concert but right before we played a storm hit. We quickly brought our gear inside and setup for an acoustic set. Once the storm started to clear up we moved outside under the large awning and finished our sets out there. We definitely had experience playing acoustic shows, especially with our rest-stomps we had done on this past tour. The show was a great time and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to get to spend the evening with on the beautiful lake. After a delicious brunch in the morning we were taken out onto the lake on a boat, it felt great getting to spend some time on the water before heading to Midlothian, VA for our sold out show tonight with our great friends Gene and Dale. Thanks so much to Dale, Renee, and everyone else in the community for making this show possible and making us feel at home. We hope to come back soon!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/42825092016-07-17T13:38:14-05:002017-01-15T18:24:59-06:007/15/16: Oakland, Maryland- Little Yough music festival. I also wanted to give a special shout out to John Williams brother in law, John, who is an engineer who works with motors. We were really excited for Travis as well because he has been attending Bliss for over 10 years and this was his first year going as a performer. When we weren’t playing we were enjoying tons of great music, from Keller Williams and Joe Hertler to The Accidentals and Pete Yarrow (of Peter, Paul and Mary.) The Cefcu center stage is right on the riverfront and I couldn’t think of a more gorgeous backdrop. This was our first headlining show with over 1,000 people and I will never forget the feeling of walking onstage to such an incredible crowd. We felt such tremendous love and support at this show and were so excited with how it went. When we started singing the intro to Wildfire to begin our set the crowd erupted. They had been playing Wildfire on the radio in Peoria on 99.9 wwct (thanks Mark Algini) ever since we had released the music video for it. The show was amazing and it was great seeing people dancing and singing along. We were so thrilled to be playing at the Morso Wine Bar, a restaurant with an incredible view of the harbor it sits across from. Everyone at Morso was kind and welcoming, and after a delicious meal we hit the stage. Getting to play for a crowd of active listeners meant so much, and it was even more awesome to see people singing along! After the show we spent a while working on trying to re-fill one of our tires which had gone low. We also went down to the water and got a gorgeous view of the bridge and the harbor, which I found out is home to the largest octopus in the Western Hemisphere.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/42254892016-06-11T17:44:05-05:002017-01-15T18:24:58-06:006/10/16- Bellingham, WA: The Green Frog. Bellingham is a really cool college town just north of Seattle, and we were happy to be playing one of the coolest venues in town: The Green Frog. One of my favorite acts, Sturgill Simpson, played here a few years ago and the room is a really great space for many Americana acts. On our free afternoon we explored the downtown area, and ate the massive grilled cheeses at the Green Frog. We were really happy to see our friend, Rob, come out to the show, and had a fun night. After we played we made our way to a local commune and enjoyed listening to some music around the fire.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/42254902016-06-11T17:37:28-05:002017-01-15T18:24:58-06:006/9/16: Prosser, WA- The Roots Cellar, Brewminatti. Our first Washington show set a trend for a great time here in the westernmost state the wanderers have been to. The roots cellar is a coffee shop which was converted into a listening room, and it has been putting on shows for a little under a year. The cellar has already had great acts like the Stray Birds, Brothers Comatose, Blackberry Bushes, and The Ballroom Thieves. We really appreciated the excellent hospitality, and we had such a great time playing this beautiful listening room. The owner, Marty, has created an excellent atmosphere for some serious music appreciation, and we hope to be back soon. After our show we were offered to park a short ways away at our new friend Al’s place, where we enjoyed playing some late night fetch with his dogs.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/42226152016-06-09T20:01:45-05:002017-01-15T18:24:58-06:006/9/16: Eugene, OR- Sam Bond’s Garage: (With Caitlin...

6/9/16: Eugene, OR- Sam Bond’s Garage: (With Caitlin Jemma) We were so excited to finally be in Oregon, the 26th state the wanderers have played. While John Williams lived here for a while, this was most of our first times in this beautiful state. We were all in awe driving through the mountains on our way out and were blown away by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. While eating at a cafe on our first morning in Eugene, we were recognized by someone who had seen the band a few times in Illinois. He was from out of town but referred us to his brother, Austin, who was kind enough to let us stay with him. We had a ton of fun exploring the town with Austin, from hiking to busking and even an excursion down to swim in the river. On our first night we had a barbecue potluck with Caitlin Jemma followed by an outdoor jam session. Caitlin is a good friend who we met a few years ago at folk alliance in Kansas City who is an incredible singer songwriter (check her out!) Our show was at an awesome venue right down the road called Sam Bond’s garage. We were so excited to see such a great crowd at the show, and when I asked on the mic how many people were from Illinois the room erupted. I couldn’t believe it! We wish that we could have stayed for much longer but the following morning we set off for Washington state!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/42185212016-06-07T14:55:01-05:002017-01-15T18:24:58-06:006/4/16: Mendon, UT- Mendon Mountain Music Festival. We have been talking about Mendon ever since the great fun we had at the festival a year ago on our first month-long tour. We were so excited to see Jason and Kandis, our close friends who put on the event. We had an absolute blast getting to play again, and seeing so many people singing along to our songs, from old to young, made us feel right at home. A definite highlight of our summer: Mendon Mountain is one of the coolest festivals that we have the privilege of being a part of. The day after the show we headed north to Idaho, where we got to camp with Jason, Kandis, and some other good friends. We spent our afternoon hiking the surrounding mountainous area where we saw a moose from afar. I had never seen one before and was amazed with how big it was. After the hike we ate a delicious stir fry, and jumped into the 35 degree (Fahrenheit) creek, followed by playing music around the fire and enjoyed the unmatched view of the stars. It felt so great to go deep into the country and unplug for a while. The following day we all felt recharged and ready to make our way out to Washington and Oregon. We feel so thankful to have incredible friends like Jason and Kandis, and we are so lucky to have shared such an incredible few days with them. Home to the Sundance Film Festival, the mountain town of Park City is just outside of salt lake and has a similar feel to towns that we’ve played like Aspen. We had spent the past two days driving from Illinois to Utah and we were so relieved to finally arrive after running out of gas just a block away from the town gas station. I guess in the elevation a quarter tank doesn’t actually mean a quarter tank. The Silver Star cafe has an incredible backdrop of mountains with even more incredible food. I was excited to see that Guy Fieri had visited the restaurant on his food network show. The owners, Lisa and Jeff, could it have been more generous, and after a great meal we got to relax at the condo we were put up in. Some of us went hiking and others hung out near the pool. I think we all were happy to have showers after a few days on the bus. We played on the patio as the sun set on a beautiful night. It was awesome getting to see a handful of people who had seen the band before at a variety of festivals. After the show we relaxed in the hot tub on our porch and enjoyed the view of all the stars. Summer Camp 2015 was a definite highlight of our previous year, and making our way back for summer ‘16 couldn’t have been more exciting. We had an incredible time playing the pre-party on Thursday night to (literally) thousands of people, and our Friday set with Oxfam was awesome as well. It was great to get to play for a great cause, and Oxfam is an incredible organization to support. It was also awesome to have the Peoria Journal Star put us on the front page of the paper! (See above) We were a little nervous about our Saturday set as dark clouds edges their way into view. A flash of lightning delayed the soundcheck and gave us a much shorter set time. We got up after some heavy storming with a rainbow in the sky and opened our set with 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain’ by CCR. The crowd was electric and we were so excited for the short set. Unfortunately just 4 songs in another lightning strike filled the sky and our set was cut off. We wished that the show could have gone on, but we were glad to have gotten to play a few songs. With two and a half sets of music, the weekend was a great time. When we had time off of playing I got to see some incredible music like The Wailers, Umphey’s McGee, Chicago Farmer and Lettuce. A highlight of Collin and Austin’s was Rising Appalachia. We loved our Summer Camp experience and hope to be back next year with some clearer skies!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/42024742016-05-29T12:19:45-05:002024-01-31T07:25:21-06:005/22/16: Raleigh, NC- Artsplosure. It made our day to see our good friend, Gene, had driven a ways out to see the show and after a fun set we got to go out to lunch and catch up with him and some friends. I saw Austin, Collin and John W’s smiles widen as they discovered the menu at the restaurant we had decided on had an entire ‘vegan’ section. We were back at Canopy Club as part of their weekly ‘Summer camp Wednesday’ feature. I always love coming back to my old college stomping ground and we had a great time playing. It always feels good to be playing close to home and we’re looking forward to a few more days of Illinois shows. Before the concert we payed a visit to Collin’s aunt and uncle who had just moved to town. We were so excited to arrive to a generous spread of vegan friendly food with some meat options for Travis and me! After catching up with them we made our way to the Prohibition Hall. We had a fun show and were so happy to see Collin’s aunt and uncle there, who had brought a whole group of their friends, thanks guys! The night was a great time, and after the set we began the long drive back to central Illinois where the band had a few days off. I was very excited to be traveling to Oberlin in Ohio to play a few jazz shows with my good friends on these days off.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/41512052016-04-24T01:04:30-05:002023-12-10T11:11:52-06:004/23/16: Pittsburg, Kansas- The Colonial Fox Theater. The Colonial Fox is a historic theater in the heart of Pittsburg, Kansas that is bringing in some really awesome artists and helping to grow the Pittsburg music scene. We were honored to get to play their ‘backstage concert series’ which took place on the stage of the theater while the rest of the space is being renovated. The excellent hospitality, great sound, and incredible performance space pumped us up for the evening’s show, and it was everything we expected and more. We played to a packed room of new and old faces. After the show I was especially excited to meet Maddy, a musician from Lawrence, Kansas who told us he covered our song 'Your Will is a Wildflower’ at his last show! We had such an excellent experience here in Pittsburg, Kansas and hope to be back soon.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/41512062016-04-24T00:55:29-05:002021-11-06T04:20:57-05:004/22/16- Columbia, MO- The Germination Music festival. Today is our first festival of the season, and we were excited to be kicking the season off with the first annual Germination festival. The people working the festival were welcoming and organized, which we really appreciate at a festival, especially for its first year. Our set was a great time and I couldn’t think of a more beautiful way to spend our earth day than the gorgeous outdoor set we played. After the show we headed into town and saw our good friends Violet and the Undercurrents play a show at Rose Music hall, a venue we played a few months back. They sounded amazing and we had a lot of fun seeing them!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/41512072016-04-24T00:54:42-05:002024-03-24T01:15:43-05:004/21/16- St. Louis: The Atomic Cowboy. Tonight’s show at the Atomic Cowboy is our ninth play in St. Louis, and we wouldn’t rather be anywhere else this evening. After the show we set off to Columbia, Missouri where our good friends Violet and the Undercurrents were letting us stay before our show in town the following day. We were so happy to be back at the Redstone room and to be playing with the Little Smokies as well as the Blackberry Bushes. The night was a ton of fun and it was great to see so many of our friends. When the bands were ready to load out we discovered that someone had parked a car behind all of the band vehicles so we had to stick around to and wait for a tow truck. In our time off we hung out with our good friends Brett and Kate who we were staying with that night. Once the car was towed they rode with us to their house where we hung out until late and Brett and I played NBA jam 1993 on sega genesis. Our handful of central Illinois shows continued on with a double header of the Sun Foundation’s clean water celebration in the morning and Illinois Central College’s 4th annual Jim Maloof legacy event at night. We were up and ready to play at 8am, but the early morning was worth it to get to play for a full theater of high school kids in support of such a great cause. After the two sets at the civic center we headed out to ICC to get ready for the show at night. We were looking forward to playing once again with Pulse of Peoria drum line. We played our set and finished out with the drum line playing Dead Birds. After a few very busy days it was great to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather for the rest of the night.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/41432552016-04-19T11:58:03-05:002017-01-15T18:24:55-06:004/17/16: Limelight- Peoria (First album preview show): Today was...

4/17/16: Limelight- Peoria (First album preview show): Today was our first album preview show, where we would perform the new album from start to finish. This was a different show for us in Peoria, since we were usually in larger venues, and it was great to have the chance to play in a more intimate setting. We spent the morning moving tables, and having Austin’s mom help us set up the stage with a variety of decorations. The room was beautiful and it was finally time to start the event. After an hour of meeting and talking to everyone at the show we played. We were so happy with the response that everyone had to our new songs and the show got us even more excited to release the album. After the show was over we filmed one final set of shots to make a live video for the song Blacktop Highway. We were so happy with how the night went and after this long day we got right to bed so that we could wake up on time for our 8:30am show the following morning at the Peoria Civic Center for the Clean Water Celebration.
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/41404272016-04-17T14:05:33-05:002023-12-10T12:25:15-06:004/16/16: Pecan, IL: Spring Strings and Things- We spent the past...

4/16/16: Pecan, IL: Spring Strings and Things- We spent the past day and a half shooting video for our new song ‘Wildfire’ which included some beautiful local hiking. The show reminded us how fun it is to play close to home, and we were excited to be putting an electric guitar on stage for the first time! We used it on our new song 'Blacktop Highway.’ After the show we went right back to some more filming in the Peoria area!
The Way Down Wandererstag:thewaydownwanderers.com,2005:Post/41351382016-04-13T17:34:29-05:002017-01-15T18:24:55-06:004/9/16: Ludington, MI- The Mitten Bar. It has been a long time since we’ve played the Mitten, and we were thrilled to be back at one of the first Michigan venues we played. Mark Sturr was running the show, and we always appreciate working with such a great guy. We had an excellent crowd and we’re so happy to see so many of our Michigan friends. We played music late into the night and were reminded that we need to play Ludington more often! After the show we headed out for the late drive back to Chicago for a few days off.
